In the early Middle Ages a liturgical plain chant culture flourished which involved the singing of religious texts unaccompanied by musical instruments. Gregorian chant is a part of every Benedictine monastery's ancient tradition. The Pannonhalma Gregorian schola also fosters this tradition by continuing to integrate it into the liturgical life of the community. Our recordings offer a selection of this musical world.
Through the invitation of Russian theatre director Anatoli Vasiliev, the schola sang in Moscow in January 2004.
The leader of the schola is choirmaster and organist Father Lukács Áment. His solo recordings for the organ are also available on CD.
