The Rule of Saint Benedict often refers to the monk as "disciple" (discipulus) and to the monastery as "school" (schola). In the monastery school spirituality has never been separated from exact practical knowledge, and the monks have always done much to keep this tradition within the framework of institutional education as well.

The Hungarian Benedictine Order has been engaged in secondary teaching and education since 1802; in its schools both personal care and high-quality education have received heavy emphasis.

The boarding school accommodates more than three hundred students and is one of the best schools in the country.
